ZOOM-A-THON PRODUCTION ASSISTANT
Interested in how movies get made but don't want to be in front of the camera? Want to learn all about what it takes to plan for, shoot, edit, and produce video projects? Want to know all the juicy details of the next Zoom-a-thon production before anyone else? Then, this is the job for you.

The winning student will become Rachel Ivey's Production Assistant for the 2013 Zoom-a-thon production. Rachel will meet student at OMIS for lunch once in March, once in April, and once in May and will stay in touch by phone and email as production planning ramps up. The student will get to learn firsthand how Zoom-a-thon goes from concept to finished product - ideas, scriptwriting, location scouting, costumes and props, rehearsal, and all the technical aspects. Once production dates are set, the student will be on set assisting Rachel in all aspects of the production. This job is perfect for a student seriously interested in learning more about filmmaking.

Boring legal jargon: Parents of winning student must sign model release allowing their child's still and moving image to be used in school and online, including but not limited to websites, print media, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter. Student's first name and last initial will be used to identify them. Production schedules can be difficult to set up. Once production dates are scheduled, it will be the responsibility of the winning student's family to make sure he/she is available during shooting dates. Film locations have yet to be determined but will remain inside Shelby County. Transportation to and from film locations will be the responsibility of the winning student's family.

Wanna be famous? Wanna find out all the secrets of Zoom-a-thon BEFORE THE REST OF THE WORLD? Wanna be a star? Well, here's your chance! You are bidding on an on-screen, acting role in the next Zoom-a-thon production. We need crazy, creative types who aren't afraid of getting in front of the camera and saying their lines. Winner will receive their pick of several possible characters to play and will appear in at least one and probably more than one video for the 2013 Zoom-a-thon campaign. You'll wear a crazy costume. You'll say lines on camera. You'll have your picture taken. You'll appear in videos in school and online. You'll know all the secrets of the Zoom-a-thon videos AND OTHER PEOPLE WON'T! Impress your family! Make your friends jealous! Have an awesomely fun time! How much does all this cost, do you say? Oh, I think the bidding should start at ONE MILLION DOLLARS, don't you?!

The Gift of Time O.M.I.S Silent Auction

Never before have we offered co-starring roles in our Zoom-a-thon productions, but this year we are offering 2 of them PLUS a production assistant position. Whew! Another Zoom-a-thon Run or three are in the history books. Thanks to all our wacky volunteers, PTO people, and school faculty who made it such a success. You rock!

It's Zoom-a-thon Time!

Captain Rachel here. I was just about to beam down to OMIS when I saw this on the TV in the break room. Looks like everyone's happy Z is back home again. Keep your eyes peeled for Z's crashed ship this morning. It has to be around here somewhere.

Just Missed Z on Titan!

Crewman Ali just pulled up this satellite image of Titan. Looks like we just missed Z there. Thanks to your help, we're closing in on the moon. Hope to be there in the next couple of hours. Time to bring Z home.

Welcome Home, Z!

Thanks to your communication, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration skills, Z has been safely (more or less) returned to OMIS. Even the astronauts are happy to know that Z is back where he belongs.

"Episode Five: That's No Moon!"

In our final Zoom-a-thon episode, the crew of the U.S.S. Zoom-a-thon close in on Z near Earth's moon. After a comical footchase on the moon, they lose Z, but learn something important from a mysterious gift left on board. Z heads for OMIS in his space craft with the crew hot on his heels. Can the crew get Z back in time for the Zoom-a-thon? Will Z's space craft ever fly again? What exactly happened to all the crew's peanut butter?

Where Do We Go Next?

Help us figure out the robots' clue. We need to look for Z near a famous space explorer's footprints. Where should we go next? Hurry! Zoom-a-thon is Friday. We're running out of time!

"Episode Four: Titan Down the Hatches!"

In this overly dramatic, penultimate episode, our crew arrives at Titan, largest moon of Saturn, a planet with rings in our own home galaxy. They have a run in with a ship of angry robots, plead for their lives, find their sonic screwdriver, learn collaboration, and repair the robots' ship. Can they figure out where to find a famous space explorer's footprints, find Z, and save the Zoom-a-thon before they run out of peanut butter? Tune on Thursday to find out!
